Q: What are the benefits of using a patch panel?

A: Patch panels will allow testing routing and maintenance of network/telecom cables connected to your network. With a patch panel this is quickly done just by making changes to cables on the patch panel itself. Patch panels also allow for easier cable management and identification of cable routing.

Q: What is a rack unit?

A: A rack unit U or RU is a unit of measure that describes the height of equipment designed to mount in a rack. A rack unit is 1.75 inches. Typically one rack unit will take three vertical screw holes on each side of a standard rack.

Q: What’s the difference between High Density Jacks and Standard Jacks?

A: The difference between them is in physical profile; there is no difference in performance. High-density jacks have a slimmer rear profile which allows more ports to be inserted into a single rack unit. When using a high-density patch panel or certain wall plates you must use high-density jacks as well.

Q: What’s the difference between NetKey Mini-Com and Keystone Jacks?

A: Mini-Com is proprietary to Panduit. The modules will only work in Panduit mini-com faceplates patch panels and surface boxes. Panduit’s NetKey line has an 'Industry Standard Keystone Footprint' which allow us to work in other manufacturer’s faceplates patch panel and surface boxes.
